Epilepsy is a neurological disorder associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain.  This leads to sudden recurrent episodes of convulsions, loss of consciousness, or recurrent episodes of sensory disturbances. This condition can prevent people from caring out their daily tasks (driving, working, caring for others, eating, cooking, etc.) extremely difficult and can cause a person’s quality of life to become very low.
Most epilepsy patients are treated with anticonvulsants such as Tegretol, Keppra, Dilantin, Lamictcal, Topamax, Valproic acid, Phenobarbital, etc. which can have numerous side effects.  Side effects caused from anticonvulsants include:
heart arrhythmia, toxicity, liver damage, dizziness, lethargy, depression, headaches, weight gain, nausea, etc.
These anticonvulsants aren’t 100% promising either.  About 30% of patients who suffer from epilepsy are resistant to anticonvulsant treatment.
Cannabidiol (CBD) has been found to be an all-natural, safe, alternative therapy for epileptics.   CBD is a non-psychoactive compound that is found in the cannabis plant and has shown to have neuroprotective properties.
CBD oil has aided in controlling/reducing the frequency of seizures a person experiences who has epilepsy.
CBD is becoming very popular in the epilepsy community and has been found to be a very therapeutic alternative when treating epilepsy.
People who suffer from epilepsy may gain a significant benefit with the use of CBD and live a higher quality life.
