There are different types of drug screenings that analyze the presence of illegal drugs or prescription medications. Urine drug screens were developed to specifically test for the presence of THC. Since CBD oil derived from hemp only contains trace amounts of THC (<0.03%), using hemp oil routinely should not cause a user to fail a drug test. However, in some cases it could produce a false positive result. Current studies show that a person would have to consume 1,000 mg-2,000 mg/day to be exposed to 3 mg of THC to possibly trigger a positive result on a drug screen.
